The Internet, social media and mobile technology make it so easy that we think joining networks is all that’s required to build relationships. As Rick Roberge states in this issue’s cover story, it typically takes a minimum of five “touches” with another person before you are “alive” to him or her. Growing your network, therefore, is not about having the biggest, but the one with the most human relationships. Use your network to be remembered as a living, breathing, flesh-and-blood individual and not just a two-dimensional “avatar” on a Web page.
