The article by the Vice Chancellor of University Sains Malaysia(USM) Dzulkifli
Abdul Razak ?Uncovering Hiroshima in our Midst? (NST, 15 Aug 2010 at page H20)
missed several pertinent facts and acknowledgment in the call for a nuclear-free
environment in Malaysia and elsewhere.
It did not address the requirements advocate by the National Energy Policy in
Malaysia.
Although the National Energy Policy calls for a meaningful research and
development of critical mass energy -which includes nuclear-based energy- it has
left open the nuclear sustainability equation within the Renewable Energy(RE)
paradigm.
Unless there is a better RE option, nuclear energy will be anticipated to
spearhead Malaysia into the next phase of economic advancement by year 2020.
