As Avenidas Village enters its
seventh year of providing a
support network to keep our
community’s seniors safe in their
homes for as long as possible, it
has become apparent that the
demand for the types of services
offered by the program has grown
by leaps and bounds.
Moreover, as the national and
local senior population continues
to increase in the coming years,
we can expect that so, too, will
the number of Villages springing
up across the country.
According
to numerous national surveys,
upwards of 90% of older adults
are planning to stay in their
homes well into their later
years.
The role that Village-type
programs will likely play in
making this aging-in-community
trend viable is evidenced by our
own experience; we are seeing
that many of the early members
who joined Avenidas Village
as an insurance policy six years
ago are now finding its services
invaluable to help them face the
ongoing challenges of aging, and
the number of members in the
program continues to grow.
