Using An External Mic With Your Digital Sound Recorder

Most portable recorders have built-in microphones to capture
sound.
The quality of these onboard mics vary from decent to
spectacular depending on the brand and model of the recorder.
Even when using a recorder with professional quality mics, you
might have occasions where an external mic or two is needed.
Maybe you are using your digital handheld recorder to record an
interview.
Sometimes there is nowhere to set your recorder or
you just want to get a good consistent level from the person you
are interviewing.
