Campaign Nonviolence: Connecting Poverty, War and Climate Change
The Extended Justice Team – which has been exploring the call in the 2011 Chapter
Declaration “to act in ways which contribute to a sustainable future in our Institute, the
Church and Earth” – has endorsed Campaign Nonviolence’s week of actions Sept. 2127. This is a campaign throughout the US that connects efforts to end war, eliminate
poverty and reverse the climate crisis.
Many sisters, associates and co-workers are considering participating in the People’s
Climate March, one of Campaign’ Nonviolence’s featured activities. Organizers hope to
draw hundreds of thousands of people to New York City on the eve of a United Nations
Climate Summit that Secretary-General Ban Ki-Moon has called to build momentum for
serious negotiations to reduce global warming at an international meeting in Paris in
