Festival
was first held in the year of
1971.
At that time there was
only one stage, which was
shared by around 20 bands
in 2 days.
Only two genres
were represented at that
time, Pop and Rock.

Festival
was first held in the year of
1971.
At that time there was
only one stage, which was
shared by around 20 bands
in 2 days.
Only two genres
were represented at that
time, Pop and Rock.
No one
at that time could ever imagine this to become a yearly
event, but eventually it did
with the help from several
companies and a fund made
to support the festival arrangers.
In the last ten years there
have been no less than
70000 visitors at each festival.
Many famous bands have
played at the Roskilde festival, including, but not limited
to:
Bob Marley
The Clash
Joe Cocker
Metallica
Slayer
Just to name a few.
The fee for entering the festivals has only been growing
since the first festival in
1973.
In the start a ticket
would cost mere 30 DKK
(around 4 Euros), but today a
ticket costs 1650 DKK
(around 220 Euros).
In year 2000, a terrible accident struck the festival.
