The issue of drugs in sport and the effect of drugs in sport has become a wellknown topic.
This is for many different reasons such as athletes of
all ages are under enormous amounts of pressure to win due to
media and sponsorship demands, coaches emphasise that winning
is the only goal, public expectations and the huge financial rewards for winning.
All of these issues results in them taking performance enhancing drugs and other substances to get them further in the competition.
Some also do it because when they are
injured it speeds up their recovery time.
This is an ethical issue in sport because athletes are winning gold medals unfairly as well as that they are putting their own health and lives at risks.
Sport is
to help people learn from defeat and victory; it also joins individuals together
to bring about a healthy and included society.
The pressures of taking drugs in
sport is the same for all athletes so there is no good reason why some take
drugs and others don’t.
