FMS
Guidance Direcotr, MAJ Russ
Ingersoll (VA), also conducted a brief
seminar for the parents of Cadets in
the 11th grade to help guide them
through the college selection and application process.
After the faculty visitations were
concluded, parents were able to treat
their Cadets to lunch off-campus before returning for the Review Parade
that afternoon.
Although soggy and cold conditions outside dictated that the parade
would be held in the FMS gymnasium, it was all snap
and polish when Parade time came.
Parents
cheered and clapped for the Corps as each
company performed a special 15-count rifle
manual.
Each Cadet who earned a place on the
Distinguished Honor Roll was then called
forward to be formally recognized and
presented with ribbons by FMS Headmaster, COL William Sedr (VA), before the
assembled Corps and their families.

Following on the tremendous success of last year’s
inaugural Winter Weekend Review, FMS opened its
doors on Valentine’s Day to Cadets’ families.
The weekend, patterned after the Fall Parents Military Weekend,
gave parents, family and friends an opportunity to revisit
campus; meet with faculty and staff; enjoy time with their
Cadets; and, to celebrate the Corps’ first semester achievements.
The event, organized by FMS Student Services, was initially developed
as a way of combating the “winter
blues”, often referred to in barracks as
“the dark ages”, by providing entertainment and recognition of accomplishments in the current school
year.
From the tremendous response
received by parents, FMS quickly realized that the event would surely rival
the Fall’s parents’ weekend in numbers
of participants.
The Saturday events began with a brief registration
