Census 2010
The Huntington Beach
Chamber of Commerce
has partnered with the
u.
S.
Census Bureau to
promote the 2010 Census
and their efforts to obtain
a comprehensive count
of Huntington Beach.
The Census will start on
April 1, 2010 and the Chamber encourages every resident of
Huntington Beach to comply with their civic and legal obligation
by completing and returning the 10 questions survey.
Why is this so important? It’s important because the census is
used to determine the amount of government funding we receive
in all areas of the community.
It’s important we receive our fair
share of the $3 trillion dollars that is allocated every year to state
and local governments.
Funding that includes funding for our
schools, health care, transportation systems and highways, parks,
senior services and much more! The census data is also used to
determine which states gain or lose representation in Congress.
It
is important that every one participate, and besides, it’s the law.
10 QUESTIONS, 10 MINUTES TO COMPlETE
With one of the shortest questionnaires in history, the 2010
Census asks for name, gender, age, race, ethnicity, relationship
and whether you own or rent your home.
It takes only about 10
minutes for the average household to complete.
Questions about
how we live as a nation—our diversity, education, housing, jobs
and more—are now covered in the American Community Survey,
which is conducted every year throughout the decade and
replaces the Census 2000 long-form questionnaire.
Responses to the 2010 Census questionnaire are used for
statistical purposes only, and all are strictly confidential.
