London, England, October 29, 2009 -- 24 7 Parking, experts in finding accessible
parking in London, draw their client?s attention to a proposal which initiates the
UK?s first parking tax.
A pilot scheme is planned for Nottingham in April 2012 which has received a
government green light - the tax will levy a charge of £185 per parking bay each
year for companies with 11 or more spaces.
The so called Workplace Parking Levy (WPL) will rise to £350 in 2014 and it will be
at an employer?s discretion whether to pass the charge on to their employees.
The aim is to reduce congestion, however the scheme has met with business leader
opposition, claiming it?s simply a way for councils to cash in.
The Derbyshire and
Nottinghamshire Chamber of Commerce has voiced strong concerns too, warning that
