To Our Migrant Parents:
The Migrant Education program takes great pride in offering services of the
highest quality and with a specific emphasis on educational programs for your
children.
As you likely know, we offer summer schools, in-home tutoring,
computer and related technology classes, preschool and day care services in
seasonal employment areas – just to name a few of the programs available to you
and your families.
Our program is funded by the federal and state government.
Although we received
less funds to provide services this year, we remain dedicated to ensuring that your
children have advocates and support during this school year and for next summer.
In order to maintain a high level of service delivery, we must make sure that all
persons who receive our programs in fact qualify for the Migrant Education
programs as defined by the federal government.
We have greatly appreciated your
understanding of the questions asked during the interview process by the
recruitment staff.
We will continue to provide opportunities for afterschool learning with our school
district partners; leadership programs in partnership with the colleges in our area,
referrals to preschool providers and in-home support in most areas.
We are also busy looking into new ways in which to provide services to you and the
children such as increased student leadership opportunities, computer classes and
better communications about the many services offered.
The MEP offices are listed in this newsletter – please always feel comfortable in
making contact with the Migrant Education Staff.
Thank you.
