Imagine your 20 year old son
coming to you in his junior year
of college and telling you that he
is going to give up a full four-year
academic scholarship at a Christian
college and head for the road as the
lead singer in a Christian rock band.
What would your reaction
be? Pastor Abner Sumrall,
former administrative pastor
at Applegate Christian
Fellowship, and his wife
Sarah, were upset! Being
college graduates and former
public school teachers, they
believed in education.
Their
son, Jon Micah Sumrall,
told them that the musical
group he and his friends had
formed known as “Kutless”
had been offered a recording
contract with BEC/Tooth
and Nail records and that
he was going to quit college and
embark on a career as a musician.
He said with firm resolve, “ I really
believe this is what God has in store
for me.
”
