Busyness or Holiness

So many people have
written and preached
about salvation that no one
should expect to be saved
by his or her works. The
so called debate between
Jamesandworking,versus
Paul and faith, has been
reasonably reconciled. So
why do people continue
to try to save themselves
through their work? What
are the choices?
Busyness may be a way to hide.
Noonewouldeverquestionwhether
a busy worker is saved. People with
no faith or prayer life may need a
busy schedule of external activity
to cover the void within. When
they remain busy doing good deeds
they don’t dwell on the deficiency
in their spirit. Busyness is not the
same as holiness which comes only
by faith in Jesus. Holiness results
in the Holy Spirit’s indwelling.
Trying to substitute busyness for
holiness is like a dog chasing its
tail. Busyness without
holiness is vanity.
People who claim to
have an abundance of
faith may see no need to
be busy. After all, they are
