Philosophy and Goals
Lifelong learning and innovative teaching are my passion! I love seeing how creativity, forwardthinking and technology can combine to engage students and turn them into lifelong learners.
I make it
a priority to make lifelong learning a habit and want to transfer that enthusiasm to my students.
Just as
I have taken control of my own professional development through webinars, conferences, workshops,
and community; I encourage my students to take control of their learning.
I incorporate their interests
and talents when writing their individual learning plans, and involve them in the process.
There are
creative ways to engage the learner, including the use of technology tools, web 2.
0 and learning
communities.
I want to empower them to be successful learners, preparing them with 21st century
skills of: creativity, innovation, critical thinking, problem solving, communication and collaboration.
To
help me learn better ways to do this using technology, I will be participating in the Masters of
Instructional Technology program at California State University, Sacramento in January 2010.

Besides teaching, I am on a quest to bring educational technology, web 2.
0 and social
networking to my school.
There are several projects that I am working on with these goals in mind.
I
have started a Ning network for my school for collaboration.
This summer, a team and I will begin a
year-long effort in curriculum design.
We are writing online unit studies which incorporate critical
thinking, writing, engaging projects, and web 2.
0.
We plan to put it all in Moodle by the fall of 2010.

I am interested in technology tools that facilitate collaboration, communication and creativity.
I
enjoy reading about Innovative Teaching, Educational Technology, Web 2.
0, and learning in
community through Social Networking.
I am working on a book that I hope to have done in a year,
which focuses on these topics.
Additionally, I have started writing an online learning module to help
teachers and homeschooling distance educators become familiar with web 2.
0 tools.
I ve called it
Project 2.
0.
The blog and wiki for it will be posted to my blog soon.

My educational view continues to take shape as I learn more from books, workshops, and professional
development; are mentored under different administrators I ve worked for; and grow in the midst of my
personal learning network.
I value people and the two-way communication for learning that we can
share.
I work best in the team model where collaboration can take place.
It is my goal to put an
emphasis on making connections, collaborating on projects, mentoring others, and learning in
community.

One day, when I was 18 years old, I planned to write an entire book of poetry in one single day from morning until midnight filled of all about the ideas in my head. I accomplished this on March 26th, 1998. The book is called The Thirteen Original Sins Jaded. I talk about many different elements in this book, and as always, experiment with words and English grammar.

In the book there is a bonus poem titled Ann Brand at the end. The poem is about a red haired girl who sat behind me in Drivers Education class. Then one night I saw her at a high school band function, perhaps only in my mind, and I wrote the poem about her.

Welcome to the third volume of the Shimmering
Words.
First of all we like to extend our thanks to all of
our students and colleges who made possible to
develop and define this journal.
This is a work done by
students and also for teachers who are in contact with
theEnglishlanguageatourSantoTomasUniversity.

We have kept a package of articles done in class with
topics of daily life and about general culture as VIP
people, Places and Cities, Shopping in Colombia,
entertainment, leaflets about safety rules on daily life
and fun.
This is a sample not only about what students
do in class but also what they are compromise with their
own process of learning, when they do works like these,
they want to show the best of them, and know that they
are able to produce and communicate their ideas and
feelings in a second language which is an intrinsic
