The 2011 session of the Louisiana
Annual Conference will be held at
Centenary College in Shreveport, La.
from June 5-8.
“With the Poor” is the theme for this
year’s event, with Galatians 2:10 as the
inspirational scripture for the theme.
The conference and denominational
focus this year is on ministry with the
poor, and is reflected in this theme.
Worship services and testimonials
throughout the annual conference are
also centered on the theme.
The concern for the elimination of
world-wide poverty will be woven
throughout the conference, particularly
as delegates reflect on “A Day of
Caring,” when United Methodist
churches statewide will be in ministry
with the poor on May 14.
On that day,
local churches will participate in a variety of poverty outreach programs.
Congregations have been asked to
design a service project that will be
implemented on that day, focusing on
the needs of the poor in their neighborhood or community.
