CITY OF NEWPORT BEACH GENERAL OUTLINE OF EMPLOYEE FRINGE BENEFITS CITY EMPLOYEES ASSOCIATION July 1, 2007 to June 30, 2010 This is a general outline of employee fringe benefits. For a complete explanation of benefits, benefit eligibility and restrictions, please refer to the current Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) and the Employee Policy Manual. - 1 GENERAL PROVISIONS Agency Shop: Union members pay dues of $10 per pay period; non-members pay a service fee of $8. 77 per pay period. COMPENSATION Salary Adjustments: During this contract year salary adjustments are as follows: July 23, 2007 – 2% increase December 22, 2007 – 2. 5% increase June 21, 2008 – 2. 5% increase June 29, 2009 – 4% increase Standby: Requires employee to be ready and available to respond immediately for calls for service. Employees earn one (1) hour OT for each 8 hours of standby; two (2) hours OT for each eight (8) hours standby on a holiday. Callback: Two (2) hours pay or one and one half (1. 5) time the hourly rate for the number of hours worked, whichever is greater for responding to a request to return to work after normal work shift has been completed and the employee has left the premises. Overtime: Normal overtime for all non-exempt employees shall be paid at one and one half (1. 5) times the hourly rate for each hour worked beyond the 40 hour limit of the work week. Comp Time Accrual: Maximum accrual is 80 hours. Comp Time shall be calculated at the rate of one and one half (1. 5) hours for each hour worked beyond the 40 hour limit of the work week. Night Shift Differential: $1 per hour for time worked after 5 p. m. Court Time: Required to appear in court on off-duty hours in connection with City business, two (2) hours OT or the number of hours spent in court, whichever is greater. Acting Pay: Earned at 107. 5% of the employee’s base pay after meeting the minimum requirement of working 80 consecutive hours in the higher class. Acting pay will be granted for all hours worked above 40, beginning with the 41st hour.
