The Way It Is by Bruce Hornsby & the Range Bruce s Best Bruce Hornsby is now best known for his stints playing keyboards with the Grateful Dead and for his involvement in such post-Dead projects as the Further Festival. An incomparable keyboard wizard whose skills are widely admired while his albums are consistently underrated, Hornsbys greatest commercial success is slipping rapidly into the past. His 1986 debut, The Way It Is (recorded with his band, the Range) is the high watermark of his career commercially, having sold several million copies and spawned a trio of hit singles, including Mandolin Rain, Every Little Kiss, and of course, the No. 1 smash, The Way It Is. Overall, its Hornsbys most tuneful album, though not necessarily his most accomplished work. His is a catalog that is long overdue for reevaluation. --Daniel Durchholz Personal Review: The Way It Is by Bruce Hornsby & the Range Already an accomplished musician and songwriter, Bruce Hornsby released his debut "The

The Wednesday Sisters: A Novel by Meg Waite Clayton The Wednesday Sisters Five women, one passion, and the unbreakable bond of friendship When five young mothers–Frankie, Linda, Kath, Ally, and Brett–first meet in a neighborhood park in the late 1960s, their conversations center on marriage, raising children, and a shared love of books. Then one evening, as they gather to watch the Miss America Pageant, Linda admits that she aspires to write a novel herself, and the Wednesday Sisters Writing Society is born. The five women slowly, and often reluctantly, start filling journals, sliding pages into typewriters, and sharing their work. In the process, they explore the changing world around them: the Vietnam War, the race to the moon, and a women’s movement that challenges everything they believe about themselves. At the same time, the friends carry one another through more personal changes–ones brought about by

Tomorrow the Green Grass by The Jayhawks Superb! At its best, listening to the Jayhawks make music is a beautiful American experience falling somewhere between drinking a cold Coke on a hot day and driving through the Rocky Mountains at sunset. Perhaps its in the clarity of Mark Olsons tenor melodies and their accompanying ghostly harmonies, or maybe its in Gary Louriss immensely raved-up country rock licks. Or perhaps its the impression left by lyrics that never reveal the whole story but tell just enough to tear at you and make you understand their feeling--the loneliness, the sorrow, the hope, or the peace. The Jayhawks were at their very best indeed on 1992s Hollywood Town Hall. Their guitars were sharp, the words perfect, and the melodies unforgettable. With Tomorrow the Green Grass, however, 1994s version of the great country soul group is decidedly less filling, even when still savory. The addition of violins is a nice touch, but a misstep where the musics muscle is concer

Whale Done! The Power of Positive Relationships by Jim Ballard Great For Work Or At Home! What do your people at work and your spouse and kids at home have in common with a five-ton killer whale? Probably a whole lot more than you think, according to top business consultant and mega-bestselling author Ken Blanchard and his coauthors from SeaWorld. In this moving and inspirational new book, Blanchard explains that both whales and people perform better when you accentuate the positive. He shows how using the techniques of animal trainers -- specifically those responsible for the killer whales of SeaWorld -- can supercharge your effectiveness at work and at home. When gruff business manager and family man Wes Kingsley visited SeaWorld, he marveled at the ability of the trainers to get these huge killer whales, among the most feared predators in the ocean, to perform amazing acrobatic leaps and dives. Later, talking to the chief trainer, he learned their techniques of building trust, a

Say Goodbye by Lisa Gardner What An Amazing Book Come into my parlor . . . For FBI Special Agent Kimberly Quincy it starts with a pregnant hooker. The story Delilah Rose tells Kimberly is too horrifying to be true. But prostitutes are disappearing, leaving behind no bodies and no explanations—except one only Kimberly, herself four months pregnant, is willing to believe. Could a sadist be hunting the streets for vulnerable young girls and using spiders to do his dirty work? Said the spider to the fly. . . . Either a serial killer has found the key to the perfect murder or Kimberly is following clues to a crime that never happened. In fact, Kimberly’s caught in a web more lethal than any spider’s, and the more she fights for answers, the more tightly she’s trapped. She’s already close—too close—to a psychopath who makes women’s nightmares come alive. And like her mother and sister before her, both victims of a serial killer, it won’t be long before it’s Kimberly’s time to sa

Strictly Diesel One Of The Best Metal Album s Ever Released The closest I have come to dying was when I was listening to this cd and totaled my car. There aren t many cds I d rather be listening to than this one when I kick the bucket. It s that good. While I enjoy all three of their albums, this one always was my favorite. The vocals are very strong, and some of the songs remind me of early Deftones. But these guys are great examples of nu-metal, and they prove that it was a worth-while genre despite many of it s shortcomings. This album is very different from the other two. It s very raw, not commercially accessible like parts of the others were. For More 5 Star Customer Reviews and Lowest Price: Strictly Diesel - Download MP3 Today!

Unix Power Tools, Third Edition by Tim OReilly Highly Recommended. The mark of a craftsman is his familiarity with his tools, the speed with which he can use them to solve simple problems, and his cleverness in using them to solve more complicated challenges. The latest edition of Unix Power Tools explores the standard Unix tools in greater depth than ever, and with better coverage of Linux, FreeBSD, and even the Darwin environment of Mac OS X. Its also been improved by the addition of sections on Perl and Python, programming languages that can often solve Unix problems more adeptly than any specific utility. This detail-filled book distinguishes itself from other guides for Unix gurus with its organizational structure (its a series of articles that can be absorbed sequentially or individually) and carefully designed and executed index. Like its esteemed predecessors, this book is one you will keep handy. The authors have achieved a nearly ideal balance in the pages of this book.

Whether an actor has an agent and manager on his or her team or is going it alone, Self-Management for Actors will provide a roadmap for surviving and thriving in the entertainment industry. This is my first Kindle and it went to my iPhone. Every time I had an extra few minutes I could pop up where I left off and read this great how to book on acting. I wish I had read this book 3 years sooner. I would have saved myself countless hours and money. I can verify that everything listed is exactly what any actor in LA needs to be successful. And thank you for the things I hadnt yet figured out on my own. The right websites, training, dos and donts. Talk about a short-cut to success? this is it
