Unsinkable Sailors Author Honored by Evans Survivors Association About 250 people attended the reunion, including former crewmembers spanning the time from the ship?s commissioning. San Diego, CA, Oct 18, 2010 ?- Patriot Media author Paul Sherbo was honored recently by the USS Frank E. Evans (DD 754) Association, at their 18th annual reunion in San Diego on Sept. 16, 2010. A United States naval destroyer, the USS Frank E. Evans was cut in half on June 3, 1969, when it was rammed by the Australian aircraft carrier HMAS Melbourne during a training exercise. The forward section quickly sank. Seventy-four lives were lost. The group presented Paul a certificate for his ?dedication to producing an unbiased publication which has helped survivors to better understand the series of events that led up to and followed the collision. ?
