Chartres Cathedral (Cathédrale Notre-Dame de Chartres) A beautiful High Gothic cathedral luckily much unscathed during its long history, the stained glass windows and sculptures remain as original. People say that nobody can now reproduce the blue in the stained glass windows and that is why it is known as the Chartres Blue. Listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site since 1979, the two towers are in different times, one is a Gothic style, one Roman. There is also a landscaped garden overlooking the town. 2012 is the penultimate stage of the Tour de France

It all started so small with an idea to list the top 10 places to visit in France and the UK to give caravanner’s and campers an idea of what was out there for them to see and generate some discussion about travel and holidays. It quickly grew though as we started to contact various tourism offices, government agencies and statistics offices and before we knew what was happening we had lists on lists of facts and figures and they are still coming in!
