The vantage through which this art is presented is the collection of the Rudanas, a Balinese family who have dedicated themselves to the celebration of this art, and established a museum to exhibit it. The Rudana collection features excellent examples of some of the great masters of Balinese and national modern art, along with more traditional Balinese painting and sculpture. The text is thus amply illustrated by works from Museum Rudana, the Rudana Fine Art Gallery, and the Rudana family private collection, with explanatory captions to allow readers to better grasp the content and meaning of the works. The final chapter of Bali Inspires tells the story of Nyoman Rudana who, starting from very humble origins, came to found a museum in 1995, and his son, Putu Supadma Rudana, who is greatly expanding the museum’s horizons today.
