Abundant = More Than Enough By Delbert Teachout May 2012 facebook. com/thechristianjournal www. thechristianjournal. org CJ’s Faith Journey We can thank our readers and supporters enough for the many donations that are coming in to cover the cost of mailing this paper to over 300 inmates a month. We also thank those who are buying their own paid subscription or a gift subscription for a friend or relative. All of this helps us cover the monthly expenses of what it takes to create, print and distribute this paper. A paper this size costs about $2,700 a month and that does not include any salaries. C u r r e n t l y our staff is all volunteer. We do this work to create a Christian n e w s p a p e r that will e n c o u r a g e , inspire and uplift Jesus Christ. It seems to be working. Are you willing to help us continue that for another month? You can help us! Will you sponsor a subscription this month? We had communicated by email as to the time and place we would meet. I also sent ahead the information we would discuss. Such a meeting b e t w e e n two persons unknown to one another could have p r o d u c e d an anxious e n c o u n t e r . But because someone who knew us both recommended her to me, I felt much less uncertain than I otherwise would have. Many life s i t u a t i o n s create uncertainty: applying for a job, asking someone for your first date, or meeting your prospective in-laws. Having someone who knows both you and the other party to introduce you provides a huge morale boost. It’s a way to gain confidence in the midst of an anxious situation. But who will introduce us to the King of the Universe? In Ephesians, Paul writes to new converts from Greek and Roman religions. They ma

Building God’s House By Fred Wikoff Digging Down To Hard Pan By Gordon S. Grose CJ’s Faith Journey Faith. It keeps us going in the middle of the storm. No doubt that each reader is facing a storm of some kind in his/her life. We must not forget that Jesus is with us in the middle of the storm, even if we think he has forgotten us or is “asleep” on the job. (See Matthew 8:23-27) He has a plan to get us to the other side. When the economic recession hit the income for this newspaper was cut in half. Today we have a bare bones budget to keep it printed and distributed. Our Blessed Assurance By Willa Johnson The Forsaken Gift By Trevor Hill CJ’s Faith Journey The Christian Journal prints 16,000 papers each month that are distributed in Southern Oregon and parts of Northern California. We have been serving the public since 1998 and exist to bring inspiration and encouragement to readers. Our goal is to life up Jesus Christ and the truth of His Word that has power for each and every person on this earth. Perhaps you know someone who needs hope. You can send that person a year subscription to The Christian Journal which will bring hope and help support this ministry of this paper at the same time. We are staying in print because of our readers. Our goal is to raise 600 paid subscriptions this year to cover our expenses. That means people like you buying a $20 sub to give to someone (perhaps a prisoner). You can get a subscription by sending $20 to our address on the next page or visiting our website. Who Will And Will Not Be Saved By Fred Wikoff Predestined But Free To Choose By Petey Prater CJ’s Faith Journey We have started a new year which means a new faith journey for The Christian Journal. Our mission is to share encouragement and inspiration with our readers. We print 16,000 papers that are spread over Southern Oregon and parts of Northern California. We have been serving since 1998. In a recent article talking about the changing trends in advertising and marketing it stated that print advertising (like we have in The Christian Journal) has gone down over 20% in the last two years. That means more and more people are finding other ways to advertise than in newspapers and magazines. Christian newspapers across the country are taking a big hit as well. Many have stopped printing. Others are doing whatever they can to stay in print often eliminating paid positions, offices, etc. We are staying in print because of our readers. Our goal is to raise 600 paid subscriptions

We had calculated that with regular advertising income we would be able to print 12 issues and cover all our expenses. You can see we reached 1/2 of our goal. Thanks to those who were faithful in helping us. Your gifts kept this paper in print this year! We did have to slash our budget to finish up the year. Basically our editor worked for free the last three months. Yet, the demand for this paper continues to increase. We get heartfelt letters and emails from readers who tell us how much this paper means to them. Can you help us finish the year and prepare for a new year financially? Power to defeat evil. Power to relieve pain. Power to heal. But the only source of power is found in God. The good news is that God’s willing to share His awesome power with us! How do we receive power from God? One way: we must sit at His feet until we fall so in love with Him that we abandon all of self to all of His great love. As we grow to know and trust God, we willingly pour self out before Him. Then His Person and power fill us. Those who are filled with God go from His presence and do miracles in His strength. “the people that do know their God shall be strong, and do exploits” Daniel 11:32 Knowing God always comes before power exploits and wonderworks. But exploits are normal for those who spend time with their Father, the God of All Power. As we look

Fixing Our Focus And Minds On God October 2011October 2011 www. thechristianjournal. orgwww. thechristianjournal. org By Fred Wikoff CJ’s Faith Journey It has been an amazing journey, this year of faith, for The Christian Journal. Times are changing. The economy is down. This month, one Christian newspaper printed their smallest issue in 14 years caused by a decline in advertising. Another Christian newspaper is closing shop in November caused by a decline in advertising. This issue is our lowest in 10 years because of a decline in advertising revenue. Can we keep going? Yet, the demand for this paper continues to increase. We get heartfelt letters and emails from readers who tell us how much this paper means to them. God hasn’t told us to stop printing, but He has told us to continue to move ahead in faith and seek help from readers. At the beginning of this year we set a goal for 600 paid subsciptions. If we make it, our expenses will be covered. You can see we have just m

Rogue Retreat Serves The Homeless September 2011September 2011 www. thechristianjournal. orgwww. thechristianjournal. org By Barry Shaw Faith Report The Christian Journal’s Journey In 2011. . . Sowing Seed. The Bible talks much about sowing seeds and reaping a harvest from the seeds that are sown. Paul talks about being a generous giver and how much God loves those who are. It seems that giving is very important to our personal growth with God. It is also very important to ministries that serve the Lord and His work. The Christian Journal is a ministry that is depending upon the Lord and the generosity of His people to keep spreading encouragement and inspiration to its readers. Your gifts each month help cover the costs for printing ande distribution. You help cover the cost of mailing the paper each month to 350 inmates. Your donations inspire our staff and keeps us totally depending upon the Lord for the spreading of this ministry. Thanks. A gift of $20 sponsors a sub for
